Thailand is a country rich in cultural and ethnic diversity. It has a remarkable heritage of ancient crafts of all kinds. Setting off from Bangkok, this tour takes us through some of the north-eastern and northern areas seldom frequented by tourists and where you will have a real opportunity to appreciate authentic Thai life. We meet the craftsmen and women working with ThaiCraft and Y Development, two of Traidcraft's long-term suppliers.

ThaiCraft Association which works with nearly 100 communities around the country and was set up by Stephen and Suwadee Salmon who have been involved in fair trade for many years. Your tour is led and organised by Phu Phiang a responsible travel company, set up by Rosalind Salmon (daughter of Stephen and Suwadee) as sister company of ThaiCraft.

Your guides will be some of their enthusiastic staff who are involved in both responsible tourism and the fair trade crafts organisation. In addition to the wonderful cuisine and scenery, this trip give you a unique opportunity to visit a huge variety of rural villages to visit a whole host of fair trade producers.
