A classic journey across Southern India that gives you an amazing insight into a new culture and way of life as we travel through a landscape of beautiful mountains and coastal areas.

Starting in the Nilgiri HIlls, an area famous for its tea, this unique tour includes visits to a variety of projects and producers. Traidcraft Exchange has been working in the Indian tea industry for several years and we visit one project with the Centre for Education and Communication on a project aimed at addressing the issues behind the crisis facing tea workers as tea prices fall and estates close. The project seeks to organise and empower small-holder growers to realise fairer terms of trade within the industry through domestic market assessment, business support, and advocacy aimed at improved legislation in the industry.

Our tour includes time in tribal areas and we have a relaxing introduction to Ayurvedic medicine and practices. We spend a night on Kerala's coastal backwaters and then travel to Chennai to visit the famous shore temple at Mahabalipuram, a great end to a great tour.
