Chile

The land of Earth, Fire and Ice, Chile is a stunningly beautiful and varied country. These tours give us a fascinating insight into Chile’s cultural and recent political history as well as experience of its amazing natural scenery.

We spend our first few days in Santiago getting our first tastes of traditional Chilean food and whilst touring the sights we begin to learn about Chile's history and the effects of Pinochet’s regime on the people of the country. After Santiago, we begin our journey south passing through amazing natural scenery including the impressive waterfalls of Salto del Laja. As well as visiting Traidcraft’s suppliers of wine at Lautaro we visit a papaya project, various towns and Mapuche communities and begin to understand a little more about life in Chile.

In our journey south we reach Chile's spectacular lake district and enjoy some of the most stunning scenery of the tour. In a journey marked by encounters with passionate and inspiring people, our tour comes to a fitting end in a day spent with Apicoop's charasmatic Chino as we learn about Fairtrade honey and their more recent blueberry project.
