Feeback from some of the people that we visited in Augsut and September 2008...

Maria del Carmen of Allpa, addressing Traidcraft Meet the People Tour in Lima, September 2008.

“We think it is wonderful for Traidcraft to do this. Traidcraft is one of our best customers and our best friends. It is a very rare opportunity. We do not receive groups like this very often. Thank you for choosing our country.”

Husband and wife, Valentina and Claudio, are part of the Turumaki craft group, which makes terracotta ocarinas (whistles) for Minka. The couple have three children – two in further education and one at school. Ww asked them what difference do Traidcraft Meet the People Tours make to them?

“It is very useful for having some money for our kids and when the group is coming we get very excited and emotional. We work with great happiness when we know they are coming,” said Valentina.

“When the kids were little the need for money was not so great, but now they are grown up, it costs so much more because we have to pay rent for their rooms.”

Claudio said: “They buy things and many of them were making whistles. We were happy that they asked about our work.”

Marcelina, member of the San Pablo knitting group in Juliaca knitter, which works with Minka explained why she likes meeting people on Traicraft Meet the People Tours.

“I feel it is like knowing a bit more about the country they are coming from.”
