Earlier this year fair trade enthusiast Elaine Willmore from Gateshead travelled 5,000 miles to Bangladesh to visit some of Traidcraft's producers, who make the products she sells from a stall in her church. On her journey she was joined by a BBC film crew who have captured her trip and explain more about Traidcraft's work with producers and the groups in Bangladesh.
Elaine's trip was shown on BBC Look North in three parts which you can view through their website at the following link.

Also on the website are some photos from Elaine's trip along with links to Elaine's audio diaries from the trip.
Our Meet the People Tour to Bangladesh visits The Jute Works and Swajan where you will have the opportunity to meet many of the same people that Elaine met and understand more about life in this amazing country. We'll encourage you to learn some Bangla phrases on the trip but there will be plenty of people looking to practice their English and translators on hand so that you can make the most of the time you spend with the people that you meet and allow you to ask lots of questions about what you see.
Traidcraft started by importing Jute products from Bangladesh so if you want to understand more about Traidcraft and fair trade then this is the perfect place to start. Crammed full of visits to different producer groups including weavers, embroiderers, screen printers and organic farmers, there is something for everyone and you will leave understanding much more about this fascinating country.
Have a look at our Bangladesh tour here and download the dossier if you would like more information about the trip and to see a day by day itinerary.
Bangladesh must be the number 1 fair trade destination at the moment as Lizzie from Skedaddle has also just been on a trip long with 7 other Traidcraft supporters from the UK. You can read more about their trip here or contact us in the office on 0191 2651110 or email us at info@skedaddle.co.uk if you have any questions about the trip.
